In the course of the European FP7 project COREPOL – Conflict Resolution, Mediation and Restorative Justice and the Policing of Ethnic Minorities in Germany, Austria and Hungary an international, high profile workshop took place on the 9th and 10th of January 2013 in Vienna, Austria.
Scientific experts such as Steve James from Australia, Elmar Weitekamp, Otmar Hagemann, Dietrich Oberwittler and Necati Benli from Germany, Borbála Fellegi from Hungary, Christa Pelika from Austria as well as practitioners have met to exchange their expertise and practical experiences regarding Restorative Justice and its measures, Minority Policing and related topics. The workshop, which was hold in the barracks of the Sicherheitsakademie (.SIAK) belonging to the Ministry of Interior, one of the Austrian project partners, aimed not only at learning from each other: at the same time the workshop permitted the joint development of a theoretical framework for further research steps within the project. Joachim Kersten, professor of the German Police University (DHPOL) and coordinator of the COREPOL project led through the event.
